FUNDED RESEARCH

Antonio’s research interests include neuroadaptive learning, virtual reality, expertise and skill acquisition, attention, cognitive flexibility, high-performing learning states, multimodal physiological measurement, and human-centred educational technology.

His PhD seeks to identify measurable engagement signatures of high-performing learners as they complete complex 3D spatial problems. This involves integrating EEG, eye and facial tracking, heart rate variability, self-reported experience and task performance.

He is interested in how these signatures could inform adaptive learning support using immersive technologies, including visual guidance based on expert gaze patterns, carefully designed auditory stimulation and validated breathing-based regulation techniques. The aim is not to give learners the answer, but to shape conditions that support attention, self-regulation and more effective problem-solving.
